Steps for Menu Type Project
  • Create a storyboard. The storyboard is just a plan or map to indicate what information will live on each slide.
  • Create a Keynote project with a plain theme... white or black.
  • Name and Save your project. Remember... only use letters, numbers, and dashes and the file name. Be sure to show the file extension. In this case, the file extension is .key.
  • Create a blank slide to act as your menu.
  • Go to the Document Inspector, and set presentation to Hyperlinks only.
  • Go to the Document Inspector, and check the box to automatically play upon open.
  • Slide one is the Menu slide. Each menu item should be a separate text box (or picture or shape...) indicating where it will go.
  • Create a blank slide for your first topic page. Put a text box indicating what the topic is.
  • Put a home button (text saying "home," icon of a house, arrow pointing back...) in a top corner on the topic slide.
  • Go to the Link Inspector and make the home button go to slide 1.
  • Duplicate that topic slide enough times to accommodate all of your topics. Change the text on each slide to indicate what the topic is.
  • Go to your menu slide. Use the Link Inspector to link each text box to the slide it will point to. Use your storyboard to help you.
  • Populate your content with text, images, and animations on the appropriate slides.
  • Go to the Share menu, and export the final project as a Quicktime Movie.
  • Click ONCE on the movie, and set it to open with Quicktime (rather than iTunes).
  • Drag your final project into your ClassFiles cloud.
